Since FBI’s season 8 premiere episode ended with the death of Scola’s newest partner, Emily Alabi’s Dani Rhodes, we’ve wondered when we would meet her replacement. It looks like the newest episode set to premiere will answer that question!
Season 8, episode 3. which is slated to air on Monday, Oct. 27, will mark the first appearances of Juliana Aidén Martinez as FBI Agent Eva Ramos. Not too much is known about her character, but in the episode synopsis, she will work with the team as they investigate a beating that led to a death on federal land. They run into a roadblock during the investigation since it might intersect with an operation being run by the DEA.
In addition, there is also going to be a shake-up at the JOC. This was teased in the premiere when Jubal Valentine was told he would be the temporary replacement for Alana de La Garza’s Isobel Castillo while she recovered from injuries from an attack on the office.
How will Agent Eva Ramos work with the FBI team in her debut episode?
In the meantime, what do we know about Evan Ramos? In an interview with TV Insider, Martinez talked about her character, who has worked with a prosecutor and also was a part of the FBI’s violent crime and narcotics office for five years.
Martinez described Ramos as being clever and has the mind of a prosecutor thanks to her previous job. She said Ramos is “someone that’s just a few steps ahead of whatever room she’s in because she’s had to be.” Despite her calculated way of thinking, she enjoys being in the field and finds “purpose and joy” in the work she does.
Ramos also has her own reasons for wanting to join the team, although her first introduction with John Boyd’s Stuart Scola isn’t so warm. When she is first introduced, she almost takes Dani’s desk, which Scola isn’t quite ready to see anyone else at after her loss.
However, we will likely get to see Scola and Ramos eventually figure out how to work together, especially as they are described as being similar. Showrunner Mark Weiss told TV Insider they were “both whip-smart, quick-witted, and don’t scare easy. She’s going to keep him on his toes- and vice versa.”
Fingers crossed this is a dynamic that will settle, since Scola hasn’t had the best luck in partners over the last season. But from the looks of things, Martinez will make a great addition to the FBI verse.
