After months of speculation, NBC has finally confirmed the One Chicago shows will indeed be staging a crossover event this season – and that crossover is coming up fast!
The three-hour One Chicago crossover between Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD will air on Wednesday, March 4, beginning at 8/7c. This means we’re just weeks away from the annual crossover event, which is always a highlight of the season.
So just what will bring the casts of the three One Chicago shows this time around? Let’s just say, the One Chicago writers have somehow found a way to up the stakes even higher this year. In fact, this year’s crossover will literally see the first responders of Chicago dealing with a mystery that begins in the air.
You read that correctly, the 2026 crossover event will begin when the men and women of Firehouse 51 are called to an airfield where a passenger jet has gone missing while mid-air. The disappearance of the jet triggers a high-stakes emergency that will pull in the casts of Chicago Med and Chicago PD as the first responders of the Windy City quickly discover a bigger and deadlier mystery. As the log line for the event teases, this mystery is "one with consequences that could ripple far beyond the runway and put countless lives in jeopardy."
Similarly to the 2025 “In the Trenches” crossover event, NBC will be shaking up the schedule for the night. Chicago Fire will kick off the night at a special time of 8/7c, followed by Chicago Med airing at 9/8c, with Chicago PD closing the night in its regularly scheduled 10/9c time slot.
If the shows follow the 2025 model, we’re likely to see the storyline flow effortlessly between the three shows rather than the shows simply passing the baton off at the end of the episodes. The 2025 crossover was praised as one of the franchise’s strongest crossovers to-date, telling a compelling story as the characters from Chicago Fire, Med, and PD worked together the in wake of a subway tunnel collapse and gas explosion which rocked the city.
The crossover brought about some fun and unexpected dynamics between the characters. The end result was getting to see characters who hadn’t previously teamed up, thrust together in the episode as they worked to protect those in the city.
It'll be interesting to see what pairings the creative teams come up with this time around. We'll also be eager to see if any characters end up being sidelined during the crossover, such as what we saw with Cruz last season.
With a date set, we should get more information about the crossover plans in the weeks ahead, so be sure to check back at One Chicago Center for the latest updates!
