Crossovers seem to be all the rage in 2025! One Chicago treated fans to a thrilling three-parter in January, and 9-1-1 is crossing over with Doctor Odyssey this Thursday (March 20). Now, Law & Order is getting in on the fun. The beloved procedural franchise has confirmed that it will be releasing a two-part, two-hour crossover special involving its flagship titles.

Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit will be joining forces on Thursday, April 17 to bring fans an investigation into a grisly murder. Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) will take center stage along with core Law & Order characters Dominick Carisi (Peter Scanavino) and Nolan Price (Hugh Dancy).

Law & Order and SVU will crossover on April 17

"Over the course of the crossover, a mysterious phone call to Capt. Benson of the SVU leads detectives to the scene of a brutal murder," reads the NBC logline. "When the SVU and the 2-7 uncover a pattern of rape and murder targeting marginalized women, [Dominick] Carisi and ADA [Nolan] Price team up to charge the suspect with multiple crimes."

Yes, it would have been nice to make the crossover a three-parter and rope in Law & Order: Organized Crime. The fan favorite spinoff was recently moved from NBC's Thursday night lineup to its streaming platform, Peacock, so it's going to be difficult to maintain continuity when it comes to big crossover situations.

The good news is that fans will get their Organized Crime fix the same night as the crossover. The first episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime season 5 will actually be airing on NBC after the other two Law & Order shows. This will mark the last time that this occurs, however, as all subsequent OC episodes will go straight to Peacock.

Organized Crime will follow the crossover event

In this regard, Thursday, April 17 marks the end of an era. It will be the final time fans can watch all three Law & Order shows consecutively on NBC, even if Organized Crime is unrelated, story wise, to the two episodes that precede it.

The crossover starts at 8/7c on NBC, followed by Law & Order: Organized Crime at 10 pm. Found is the show that will occupy the Organized Crime time slot for the rest of the season, and it will move to Monday, April 14 to accommodate the special crossover event. It will return to the Thursday night time slot on April 24.
