It was just announced that there will be a crossover between the original NCIS and its prequel series, NCIS: Origins. How will this play out, especially considering how far apart both series are set from one another?

The crossover reveal was done via a video between Wilmer Valderrama, who plays the present-day Nick Torres, and Austin Stowell, a young Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

In the promo, they discuss the crossover, and at one point, Stowell even acts like a confused Gibbs when Valderrama holds up his smartphone. Valderrama confirms it is a calculator when Stowell questions him about it. A different promo does not include this moment, but it is still fun to see the two actors together promoting the crossover.

Deadline reported that the crossover will see the current NCIS team reopen a case that originated in the ‘90s. Other than knowing the case involves multiple naval officers dying, there is not much information about the case or how it will involve the current team.

How will NCIS and NCIS: Origins collide for a crossover event?

Most likely, it could be that either the case went unsolved for decades, or they discovered that someone innocent had been blamed for the crime. However this plays out, we’re excited to see how they incorporate the past team and the current team for the crossover event.

Could this also mean we meet the present-day version of someone from the past? So far, we have not seen a future version of a few people on Gibbs’s old team, so it would be cool to see them interacting with the new team.

This will mark the first crossover between NCIS and NCIS: Origins. Both of the shows will premiere on Tuesday, October 14. However, the actual crossover is slated for Veterans’ Day on Tuesday, November 11.

NCIS: Origins will move to the 8/7c timeslot to begin the crossover, and the case, while NCIS follows at 9/8c.

When NCIS: Origins returns, fans will find out whether one agent, Cecilia “Lala” Dominguez, survived the car accident seen in the season one finale. Plus, we also know that Adam Campbell will return to portray the role of Donald “Ducky” Mallard, in an upcoming episode. It is not known if it will be for the crossover, although it is most likely going to be a standalone episode.

NCIS will premiere with Agent Alden Parker trying to find the person responsible for his father’s murder in the Season 22 finale. Overall, both seasons of the show will have some exciting material for the fans to look forward to before the big crossover event.

Until these episodes air, you can catch up with both shows on Paramount+.
