With a show like NCIS: Origins, there is not much of a chance we will find out about some of the characters in the future during the crossover episode of NCIS. However, we now know at least two more older versions of the characters will be joining the NCIS team in the present. Along with Vera Strickland, who else will appear on the crossover episode of NCIS?

Given Vera Strickland appeared in NCIS already, it makes sense for her to show up to help the team when a case from Gibbs’s first months at NIS is reopened. But who else got the lucky chance to at least appear in their roles 30 years in the future?

TV Insider revealed Bobby Moynihan and Ely Henry would be joining as the future versions of Woody, the forensic scientist, and Phil, the chemist. Photos show the two men talking to Agent Nick Torres, likely discussing their findings during the initial investigation.

Normally airing after NCIS, Origins will lead into the crossover episode with the case. The team investigates a naval officer’s death, finding that there are secrets being kept in the small town he is from. While it seemed, at first, it was a cold case, now it looks like the investigation could have led the team in the wrong direction.

This is due to the NCIS synopsis, which reveals that a prison break is the reason the team reopens the case in the present.

Executive producer David J. North discussed how they decided which Origins characters would appear in the present. “Gina [Lucita Monreal] and I have a plan for certain of our characters and in some, we don’t want to give away whether they’re still around or alive in 33 years because we want to stick with the plan we have.”

This is understandable, since we already know that in the present, Gibbs has retired, Mike Franks has died, and everyone else is still a mystery. Since the show is ongoing and seems to be doing well, it makes sense that they would want to keep some things close to the vest.

As for what brings Woody and Phil into the team’s orbit, Steven D. Binder explained, “they’re going to have a piece of evidence that’s pivotal to the case.”

It sounds like this is going to be a hilarious episode, and while they likely will not say anything about what happened to the rest of the Origins team, at least we will know how some of them are faring.

The crossover episodes will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 11, starting with NCIS: Origins at 8/7c and NCIS finishing it off at 9/8c. You can watch the episodes again the next day on Paramount+.
