NCIS: Origins is returning to the television schedule and just in time for some exciting cast news. One new star, Caleb Foote, of the series has been made a series regular after being introduced to viewers when the prequel to the original NCIS premiered.
Foote was recurring in the show, but he has been a part of NCIS: Origins since the beginning.
Portraying NCIS Agent Bernard ‘Randy’ Randolf, Foote’s character is also one who has a connection to the young Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell). He had previously been the agent assigned to protect Gibbs’s wife and daughter when they were involved in the case against Pedro Hernandez.
Foote gets promoted in "Flight of Icarus"
However, having a new baby at home, he had asked to switch and this led to another agent being the one who was driving Kelly and Shannon Gibbs to the safe house when they were killed.
Randy has been an entertaining character to watch, as he shows off a goofy side while also showing his capabilities as an agent. It will be exciting to see what is in store for his character, especially whether or not Gibbs learns about his connection to his family’s case.
The news of Foote’s promotion to series regular comes in time for the show’s return from hiatus on Monday, Jan. 27. In the new episode, the team is tasked with looking into the death of a Marine Commander’s son. Plus, there will also be an arc involving Mike Franks (Kyle Schmid). There will be something we learn about his past involving his family.
Foot's character will get closer with Gibbs
We’re looking forward to getting to know the new, and old, members of Gibbs’s first team. With the new promotion for Foote, this will mean we will get to know more about Randy and potentially see more of him and Gibbs working together.
So far the show has been leaning into Gibbs’s relationship with fellow NCIS Agent Lala Dominguez (Mariel Molino) and how that will develop. But we’re also looking forward to seeing more of Foote and how his own story could impact Gibbs’s future.
Foote joins other series regulars including Molino, Stowell, Schmid, Tyla Ambercrumbie, who plays Mary Jo Hayes, and Diany Rodriguez as Vera Strickland. With some exciting stories coming up, there’s sure to be plenty of material for all of the cast to work with.
In addition to watching new episodes of NCIS: Origins on CBS, you can also watch past episodes of Paramount+.
