NCIS: Origins has been an interesting show to discuss. It's a prequel to the events of the flagship NCIS series, but it's pulling from characters and events that we first heard about two decades ago. We are finally getting to see hallowed NCIS events play out in real time, which gives the show both a fresh appeal and a sense of nostalgia.
Origins will continue to appeal to fans in this unique sense courtesy of its season one finale. The series has already played out the details that led Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Austin Stowell) to kill the man responsible for his wife and child's death. The finale, however, will detail what happens when this violent act is discovered by Gibbs' peers.
Former SAC Lara Macy will return to NCIS
One of whom we have actually met before. TV Line has confirmed a well-known figure from NCIS history, Lara Macy, will be brought back into the fold. Macy debuted in the NCIS season 6 episode "Legend," which served as a backdoor pilot for NCIS: Los Angeles. The character was briefly made Special Agent in Charge of the Office of Special Projects in Los Angeles, but her tenure was short and she was quickly replaced by Henrietta "Hetty" Lange (Linda Hunt).
Macy was reassigned, and ultimately killed, in the NCIS season 7 episode "Patriot Down." Her body was burned in what was later revealed to be a vendetta against Gibbs. Macy helped Gibbs cover up the details surrounding the death of his family's murderer, and wound up paying the price.
NCIS: Origins will not only bring back the character, but detail how and why Macy decided to help her fellow NCIS agent. TV Line describes the character as an "ambitious investigator with sharp instincts and a relentless drive for justice." She's also someone who is looking to advance her career, and sees the investigation involving Gibbs to be an opportunity to do so.
Claire Berger will take over the character

So far, Origins has done a superb job of bringing back characters we briefly knew from the main show, like Michael Franks, and giving them additional screen time and nuance. Franks has gained a ton of esteem in the eyes of NCIS fans as a result of Origins, and it's looking as though the same phenomenon will transpire with Macy.
Louise Lombard played Macy during the character's initial NCIS run, but she will be played by Claire Berger. Given that the events of the cover up and Macy's death take place roughly two decades apart, it makes sense. We're curious to see the spin that both the writers and Berger put on the character.
