NCIS reintroduced a beloved character to the franchise in the form of NCIS: Los Angeles’s LL Cool J. Not only did his character, Sam Hanna, come to aid on a case, but he also gave us some updates on the most notable characters from NCIS: LA and Hawaii.

In the episode, the team investigated a quadruple homicide in which a suspect found covered in blood refused to speak to anyone except Sam. Even though Sam no longer worked as an agent, he did spend time trying to convince politicians to help veterans and people overseas. The team went to Sam for help, finding out he did know Mark but he did not believe the man was capable of murder.

Even though the man gave his name as Mark Davis, who had fought alongside Sam during their time in the marines, he was actually Mark’s brother, Roger. He was trying to find his missing brother after getting a call where he was asking for help.

New Beginnings, Part Two
“New Beginnings, Part Two” – The NCIS team continues the case with ATF and the stolen military-grade weapons. Also, Callen and Anna decide on an impromptu wedding, on part two of the series finale of the CBS Original series NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Sunday, May 21 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on demand on Paramount+. The investigation led them to an agency that helped veterans find jobs and Mark had been hired at Iron Horizons, which turned out to be a kind of private military company that had built an army training area armed with bombs. It looked like Mark was involved with them, but Sam was certain he was actually innocent.

Mark had actually been trying to tell someone about the group, but was taken hostage. In order to find him, they looked into the company’s financials and discovered one of their top donations was to a sitting senator who Sam had been trying to convince to aid another country for defense. He told the senator to pull strings and find out where they were likely located and this led the team to find Mark, bloody and beaten but alive.

The episode did a great job showing us where Sam was and we also learned that G. Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and his wife, Anna, were expecting a baby. We may not have gotten an update on Kensi and Deeks from NCIS: LA, but we would love to know how their family is doing with their adopted daughter, Rosa, and the baby Kensi was expecting at the end of the show’s run.

Sam also mentioned Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) from NCIS: Hawaii, which was a spinoff cancelled and ultimately left on a cliffhanger. While nothing was brought up to hint at that particular scenario, it does sound like she is doing well. We also got a Hetty mention too, showing she is still up to her usual secretive operations.

The end of the episode hinted McGee’s continued investigation into LaRoche. He had been waiting on a file from the DOJ that could show LaRoche involved with shady activities, but Vance told him he had to be sure of what he was getting himself into. He told McGee that the file would be on its way back to the DOJ before leaving to take a call at MTAC. This left McGee alone with the file in question.

We’ll have to wait for the next episode to air on Monday, April 28 to find out if McGee’s hunch is right, because otherwise, his job could be in jeopardy.

Make sure to tune in to NCIS Mondays at 9/8c on CBS. You can find previous episodes on Paramount+.
