While we have gotten tidbits over the summer about the hunt for Agent Alden Parker’s nemesis Carla Moreno, a new NCIS season 23 trailer has given us a look into what to expect when the show premieres in October. Find out what we learned from the trailer itself.

As fans may recall, the Season 22 finale ended with Gary Cole’s Parker finding his father dead from multiple gunshot wounds. The only evidence left at the scene was a wine glass with lipstick smudged on the rim. He immediately suspected Moreno, who has been Parker’s nemesis for decades.

The trailer for season 23 shows Parker behind bars as NCIS Director Leon Vance talks to him. He had been giving Parker time he needed and even covered for him, but it doesn’t look like he is all for Parker going rogue on this. Although the rest of the trailer does show the team coming together in order to help Parker, even if it means risking their own careers.

In one scene set to footage of Parker breaking into some sort of facility, he tells someone, likely McGee, that to “find [Moreno], you don’t follow the book, you flip the table.” It’s been obvious Parker would go rogue in order to find the person he holds responsible for his dad’s death. Now we can see he will do whatever it takes to obtain justice.

The trailer ends with Parker in a room filled with explosives, which doesn’t bode well for him, as his team is not with him. With over a minute of footage, it looks like there will be a lot for the team to do over the course of the two-part event. The second part will air the week following the premiere, but we’re already looking forward to seeing what happens.

There is also a teasing moment between Agents Jessica Knight and Nick Torres when a man they are speaking to kisses her hand. They left off last season, finding out they were unknowingly legally married during an undercover operation. It could just be them joking around, or there’s something going on.

Either way, there is so much to look forward to in a new season that is sure to give audiences something new for all the characters moving forward. Plus, we will also meet Parker’s sister in the aftermath of the loss of their father. She has been described as being the total opposite of Parker and this will play into the dynamic they have now as adults, which will be reminiscent of their childhood.

NCIS premieres Tuesday, Oct. 14 at 8/7c on CBS. You can find previous episodes on Paramount+.
