The NCIS franchise is growing bigger with the upcoming spinoff involving Tony Dinozzo and Ziva David, and now we have a date for the premiere!
Fans will actually get to watch the series early in September, much earlier than other regular CBS programs normally air. Streaming exclusively on Paramount+, fans will be able to watch Michael Weatherly and Cote De Pablo grace their screens on September 4 when the first three episodes of the season drop.
The series will then follow a one episode a week approach, with the season finale scheduled to air on Thursday, Oct. 23, officially meaning the series will have 10 episodes in its first season. This means fans will possibly be able to watch the entire season before NCIS and NCIS: Origins will be halfway through their own respective schedules on CBS.
In the spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva, it follows the two of them as they co parent their daughter, Tali. There is still an issue of trust between them, which is something they will have to work on when they discover someone is after them following an attack on the security company Tony runs.
As they go on the run to find out who is attempting to hunt them down, this will also allow them to work together and rebuild that sense of trust they once shared when they worked at NCIS.
While we do not know for sure what the timeline is, it will be set after Ziva’s supposed death, which occurred in NCIS before Tony discovered she was alive and they were eventually reunited. The series will allow fans to see how they will be able to work together to eventually get what is described as their “unconventional happily ever after.”
The teaser trailer has also gotten fans excited, as it has already received over 93 million views, and that was within the first week!
Other cast members involved with the show include Amita Suman, Maximilian Osinski, Lara Rossi, Isla Gie, Nassima Benchicou, Terence Maynard, Julian Ovenden, and James D’Arcy. While it is not confirmed that we will get some sort of mention of Tony and Ziva’s former colleagues at NCIS headquarters, it would be a fun surprise to see them in some sort of cameo at some point.
Weatherly and de Pablo are also credited as executive producers in addition to Laurie Lieser, Christina Strain, Shelley Meals, and Mairzee Almas, and showrunner John McNamara.
We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more about the spinoff surrounding Tony and Ziva. In the meantime, keep an eye on One Chicago Center for more updates.
