Law & Order seasons are coming to Netflix on April 20

In an unexpected announcement, Netflix has revealed that it will soon be adding Law & Order seasons to its vast library of shows. As confirmed via the Netflix app, Law & Order seasons will be coming to Netflix on Monday, April 20, in the United States.

Interestingly, Netflix has not confirmed which seasons of Law & Order will be added on April 20 or how many seasons will arrive. The show was not included on the April 2026 release calendar, making it a sudden and unexpected addition for Netflix. Instead of revealing the release of Law & Order seasons as part of its April release slate, word of the show's arrival was confirmed via the Netflix app which confirmed that Netflix will soon become home to previous seasons of the show via the "Coming Soon" section.

What we do know is that it seems the seasons Netflix will be acquiring might be some of the show's earlier seasons, rather than seasons from recent years. The key art used to promote the release of the seasons on Netflix appears to be from the show's eighth seasons, which starred Jerry Orbach, Benjamin Bratt, S. Epatha Merkerson, Sam Waterson, Carey Lowell, and Steven Hill.

It would certainly make sense for Netflix to license some of the older seasons of the show rather than newer seasons, though it's possible Netflix could have secured the rights to both. We've seen several NBC hits making their way to Netflix recently, including Happy's Place, St. Denis Medical, and The Hunting Party, so there is a chance we could see some of Law & Order's more recent seasons hit Netflix alongside classic seasons.

Regardless of what seasons Netflix adds or how many seasons drop on April 20, it's exciting news to know that Law & Order is coming to Netflix!
