Over the course of its 11 seasons on the air, NBC's medical drama series Chicago Med has welcomed a number of amazing guest stars as patients, doctors, and other memorable characters. In season 11 episode 6, the series will have another recognizable guest star in its ranks!
As the first-look images for Chicago Med season 11 episode 6 first revealed, the series features a guest starring role from an actor who played a pivotal character in Netflix's popular teen adventure series Outer Banks. No, we're not going to see Chase Stokes, Madelyn Cline, or Drew Starkey drop by Gaffney. But we will be seeing John B's disappointing father Big John as a patient.
Charles Halford, who played the father of Stokes' character John B in Outer Banks, appears in the latest episode of Chicago Med season 11. Per the caption of the photo shared by NBC, Halford plays a character named Jabo Higgins, a patient being cared for by Lenox. Additional photos from the episode reveal that Lenox will be scrubbing into surgery with Howard by her side.
Halford might be best known to current television viewers as Big John in Outer Banks, a role that became bigger in the Netflix show's third season. In total, Halford appeared in 13 episodes of the series, ultimately (spoiler alert!) getting killed off in the third season finale. Big John started out as a character we were rooting for, but he wound up becoming a secret villain willing to risk his son's life.
In addition to his recurring role on Outer Banks, Halford also appeared as a series regular in the short-lived NBC drama series Constantine and has also had guest roles in shows like Agents of SHIELD, Supergirl, The Walking Dead, and Reprisal. He even appeared in one episode of Chicago PD back in 2021 (season 8 episode 7, "Instinct") as the character Logan Teague. What a small world!
Beyond Charles Halford's guest star role as a patient at Gaffney, Chicago Med season 11 episode 6 will also welcome even more guest stars, including Goodwin's children. "The Story of Us" picks up following the cliffhanger, which involved Goodwin responding to her ex-husband's emergency call. The episode's synopsis teases that secrets will be revealed when the family comes together.
While it will be wonderful to see Goodwin's children in the show again, it's under potentially tragic circumstances. There's a possibility that Bert won't make it through the episode, but characters always run that risk in a medical drama. Halford's character also might not make it through his surgery, but if we know Lenox, she won't give up and will make sure he survives what's ailing him.
