Abigail Hawk teases Baker's endgame ahead of Blue Bloods return
Abigail Baker may not be a member of the Reagan family, but she's a crucial part of what has made Blue Bloods so successful. She's spent countless years as the right-hand woman of Frank Reagan (Tom Selleck), and has been front-and-center in the decision-making process of the show's hardest cases.
Blue Bloods is gearing up for its final season on CBS, and the actress who plays Baker, Abigail Hawk, recently sat down for an extensive interview with Women's World. She not only weighed in on the legacy of the show, but she provided her opinion on what should happen with her character.
Hawk thinks her character could be commissioner
When asked where she saw Baker ending up, the actress gave a two-pronged answer. In one respect, Baker would be thrilled to continue to help Reagan as the Commissioner of the New York City Police Department, but in another, the actress feels that Baker would be a worthy successor:
"If given the opportunity, Baker would make a great Police Commissioner because she has the mind for it, she has the drive for it, she is balanced, she is even, she is fair, she knows stuff in the room before anyone else."
Hawk is confident that her character could change the department for the better, and if Reagan does decide to retire in the series finale, it's hard to think of a more worthy replacement. The area in which Baker has been less successful, of course, has been her personal life.
Hawks teases her character's divorce
Hawk noted what many Blue Bloods fans already have, which is the fact that the character would be better if she decided to leave her current husband. The relationship has been on the rocks for most of the show's history, and the character could use a positive change of scenery:
"Baker needs to leave her husband because she has given him ample opportunity and I think she and her kids deserve so much more and a better path going forward."
Once again, hard to argue. Baker is slated to play a bigger role than ever in season 14, but Hawk has admitted that she will getting to work alongside TV legend Tom Selleck. The actress called Selleck an extraordinarily hard worker, and claimed that he "has a passion for everything he does."

It may be the last time around the track for Baker and Reagan, but we can't wait to see where they both end up come the end of the series.
Blue Bloods season 14 premieres February 16 on CBS.
