Brett chose her maid of honor on Chicago Fire (and nearly got her fired)
Wow. "On the Hook" was not smoothest episode for Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). The character has only one more appearance before she leaves Chicago Fire for good, and we hope it goes well, because she had to endure quite a bit from a personal and professional perspective.
On one hand, she had a bachelorette party for the ages. Brett and all the women in the 51 went about as hard as they possibly could, and some of them even decided to send nude photos to the men in their lives (for more details on where those decisions led, click here).
Violet Mikami is Brett's maid of honor
Of course, from a more wholesome perspective, the bachelorette party confirmed that Brett's maid of honor is going to be her medic partner and best friend: Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith). The character was the one who put the bachelorette party together, and judging by how wild things got, we'd say she did a great job.
Then the next day happened. Brett, Violet, and the rest of the team were extremely hungover, and doing their best to maintain their sharpness on the job. The team was called to a basketball game to assist with a player who passed out, but when Brett went to use a defibrillator, she discovered that the machine wasn't working.

The player was rushed to the hospital, and Brett was effectively told that if the defibrillator issue was caused by human error, than her career as medic would be over.
Violet tried to stick up for Brett, and even went as far as to talk back to Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker), but it only had the effect of putting Violet on the hook as well.
The duo nearly lost their jobs due to faulty equipment
If the two were unable to determine what happened, they would no longer have jobs.
Thankfully, Brett realized that the patches on the defibrillator had all the gels worn off, because the packaging that they had come in was faulty. Brett and Violet's careers were brought back from the brink, but Violet did get reprimanded for disrespecting Boden in a workplace setting.

It would have been a huge damper on the bachelorette party and impending wedding if both the bride and the maid of honor lost their jobs. Especially since neither of them actually made a mistake.
We're grateful everything got sorted out, and eagerly await the wedding that will take place during the next episode!
