Chicago Fire: 4 familiar faces return for Brett and Casey's wedding (watch the promo)
By Cody Schultz
Next week's new episode of Chicago Fire is going to be quite bittersweet. The sixth episode of the season is going to mark the end of an era for the show as Kara Killmer departs the show after nearly 200 episodes with the show playing paramedic Sylvie Brett.
The good news is that Brett is going to get a proper farewell, one that will come with a happy ending, which is something we're truly grateful for as it's something not every character has gotten over the years. As we learned in the season premiere, Brett is going to leave Chicago to move to Portland to live with Casey and the Darden boys after her wedding.
Sadly, her wedding day has finally arrived as the sixth episode of the season will see Casey and Brett exchange I Dos before leaving the Windy City to start the next chapter of their lives together as a married couple. As the pair come together to celebrate their love, they'll do so surrounded by family and friends including a few familiar faces we haven't seen in town for quite some time now.
Brett and Casey's wedding will bring back several familiar faces
In the promo for "Port in the Storm", we get our first glimpse of Brett and Casey's big day which is sure to be a celebration of not just their love but of the two characters as they prepare to leave town to start their next chapter together.
NBC did not give too much away in the promo, but the teaser did reveal there will be a few familiar faces making their return in the episode including Taylor Kinney. As we expected, Kinney is back as Severide and we're honestly relieved as we couldn't imagine Severide missing Casey and Brett's big day. It'll be interesting to see how long Severide sticks around for this time, but we're going to take the win in knowing he'll at least be around for his longtime best friend's wedding.
Also back for the wedding will be Cameron Scott Roberts as Griffin Darden, who last appeared back in season 10 as part of Jesse Spencer's exit storyline. It makes sense that Griffin is present for the wedding and it's possible we'll also see his younger brother Ben as well, though Ben's return is not confirmed. What is confirmed is that we will also be seeing Brett's adopted daughter Julia at the wedding. We got a quick glimpse of Julia sitting on Kidd's lap during the ceremony and honestly love seeing Julia back for the first time this season!
Speaking of family, our final confirmed returnee for the episode is Carlos S. Sanchez who will be back as Javi Cruz. Javi has been mentioned frequently but we haven't actually seen him on the show for several episodes, his last appearance coming in the seventeenth episode of last season. It'll be nice getting to see Javi back again to accompany Cruz to the wedding and we're hoping that means we might also see Kristen Gutoskie back as Chloe.
It'll be interesting to see if there are any additional surprise returns planned for the episode, but even if there are not we're more than excited to see Severide, Griffin, Julia, and Javi back in the mix for the episode!
