Chicago Fire boss confirms season 12 romance (yes, THAT one)
Chicago Fire has spent the last few seasons delivering on long-standing romances. Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) got married, and now Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) have plans to get hitched.
It's important, however, to keep things fresh, and Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman confirmed that there is a brand new 51 romance to be mindful of in the new season.
Carver and Violet will get closer in season 12
It's going to occur between two established characters, and based on the bits and pieces we've already seen, it looks like the Brettsey wedding will play a role in speeding up the process.
We're talking about Sam Carver (Jake Lockett) and Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith). They was some flirtation between them in the season 11 finale, but Newman told TV Line that things will go to another level in the new year:
"There is definitely some undeniable tension between the two of them, and we’ll be playing with that a lot. [Their dynamic] is really fun and very playful. It’s not a tortured relationship."

Fun is something that both characters could use. Carver has had some harrowing experiences in his past, and Violet is still reeling, in some ways, from the death of her last boyfriend, Chief Evan Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas).
Chicago Fire boss teases more 'tension'
The showrunner made it clear that Carver and Violet wouldn't be jumping into anything right away, but that their dynamic will grow and develop over the course of season 12, and they will get a better feel for what the other is looking for in a partner.
""We get to see that play out over the course of the season and get to see her step into the spotlight in a great way. That vibe is very there. She’s been through a lot, so it’s not like she wants to jump into anything.""
Carver and Violet have had flings with other fire department employees, but the time that's been paid to their burgeoning romance, and the way that Sylvie Brett is compelled to get them together, leads us to believe that there's more to this pairing than a simple hook-up.
Regardless, we're excited to find out what happens.
