There are a few things that we would love to see for our favorite characters. When it comes to Chicago Fire season 13, fans want more Severide.

The good news is fans will get more Severide. Taylor Kinney is part of the 13th season, as the Chicago Fire boss, Andrea Newman confirms. The bittersweet news depends on what you want to see for the character.

Severide will not land a promotion in Chicago Fire season 13

Those hoping to see Severide get promoted to Captain in the new season will be disappointed. Newman makes it clear to TVLine that that isn’t something Severide wants.

"There’s a lot of politics the higher you go up in rank, and Severide has no interest in that. He’s a get-your-hands-dirty kind of guy," Newman stated.

Fans did get to see him take over the running of Firehouse 51 during Boden’s absence in season 12. We know that he is capable of it, but not everyone has those ambitions. Severide is one of those who is happy where he is right now, and he doesn't want to deal with the politics that come with a promotion to Captain. We can't really blame him!

Severide is still focused on arson and OFI in Chicago Fire

Those who love to see Severide at something he is so good at will be happy to hear the latest news. Newman confirms that Severide’s passion continues to lie in arson and OFI.

"He’s got his focus on the thing he is obsessed with, which is arson and OFI, in addition to squad, which he loves," Newman shared, adding, "So arson is still very much on the forefront of his mind, the possibilities of moving to OFI are at the forefront of his mind, and all of that comes up. He’s dealing with all of that this season.”

It’s funny as long-time fans know that Severide tried to avoid going the arson route for the longest time. He was just so good at it that he kept finding himself being called in to help.

Over the most recent years, Severide has had a change of heart. Part of it has likely been that he hasn’t had to give up Squad 3, which is another passion. And yes, he will still be around for Squad 3 during Chicago Fire season 13.

One thing we will see in the upcoming season is Severide considering a switch to OFI, though. It will come up, and he’ll have to make a choice. Is it possible that we could see Cruz get the chance to take the lieutenant exam and become the lieutenant at Squad 3 as Severide makes a move to OFI?
