Chicago Fire is about to bring back some familiar faces (including an original star)
By Cody Schultz
The upcoming sixth episode of Chicago Fire season 12 is going to be one of the biggest episodes of the season. Why? Episode 6 will be the show's sendoff episode to longtime cast member Kara Killmer who will be leaving the series after ten seasons playing paramedic Sylvie Brett.
As a refresher, in the season 12 premiere, we discovered Brett accepted Casey's proposal and discovered that her plan was to move to Oregon following their wedding in Chicago. In episode 6, "Port in the Storm," Brett's wedding day finally arrives and with it comes her exit from 51.
With Brett's wedding day arriving, with it will come the return of original cast member Jesse Spencer because you can't have a wedding without the groom. We've been expecting Casey's return all season long and knew he'd be back for the wedding, which we now know will be in episode 6. However, it seems that Casey won't be the only former 51 family member making their way back to Chicago for the wedding.
NBC teases familiar faces will return to Chicago Fire
While we knew to expect Jesse Spencer's return for Kara Killmer's sendoff, it appears NBC is planning on bringing back some additional familiar faces for the wedding -- in fact, those are the network's exact words!
In the synopsis for the upcoming episode, NBC teases that "Firehouse 51 welcomes back some familiar faces and says goodbye to Brett." This seems to suggest that we'll be seeing more than one surprise return in the episode connected to Casey and Brett's wedding, so who might be making their way back to town for the wedding?
The most likely pick would be Taylor Kinney's Severide. Severide left town again to work an arson investigation but we imagine there is no way he'd miss Casey and Brett's wedding, so it would seem like a safe assumption to guess that Severide would be one of the familiar faces who returns.
We could also see Gordon Clapp returning as Chaplain Orlovsky, perhaps to serve as the officiant of the couple's wedding which would be a fun nod to Clapp's former presence on the show. And then there is the prospect of the Darden boys coming back to town with Casey for the wedding which would make sense given Casey left town to take care of the boys and Brett and Julia are about to become their family when Casey and Brett exchange their I Do's.
Regardless of who the familiar faces end up being, all we know is that we're excited to see who NBC brings back for the wedding and to celebrate Brett and Casey in the bittersweet sendoff episode.
