Chicago Fire is about to take its first break since returning in 2024
By Cody Schultz
Following an extended hiatus due to the 2023 writers' and actors' strikes, Chicago Fire returned on January 17, 2024, and the show has -- no pun intended -- been on fire ever since settling back into NBC's schedule.
The first several episodes of season 12 have been full of unexpected and exciting developments that have given fans plenty of things to talk about. We've seen characters coming and going with cast exits and new additions to the 51 family, a new couple has emerged as another is preparing to walk down the aisle, and there have been some unexpected curveballs thrown in the direction of some members of the team including Herrmann.
Chicago Fire season 12 has been airing without interruption since kicking off in January, but our first break of the season is coming soon.
Chicago Fire will be going on break after its Feb. 7 episode
After airing its first four episodes consecutively, Chicago Fire season 12 is about to take its first break this season. As revealed via NBC's latest schedule update, the One Chicago shows will be airing reruns on Valentine's Day this year with no new episodes planned for Feb. 14.
Instead of airing new episodes on Valentine's Day, NBC will instead be airing encores of the season premieres of all three One Chicago dramas across the night.
At this time, NBC has not released the full schedule for February which makes it hard to know whether this will be a one-week break or whether the shows will be taking a few weeks off. All we know for certain is that there is a break coming on Feb. 14.
We should get confirmation on the length of the break when NBC airs the promo for episiode 5 following this week's new episode, so be sure to keep an eye out in the promos for the reveal of when the One Chicago shows will be coming back!
