Chicago Fire is playing it close to the chest in some ways, and releasing vital information in other ways. What we mean is that the show and its creators have been reluctant to talk about the story for season 12, and the numerous events that will take place, but the promo photos that NBC released ahead of the premiere seem to contain some major bombshell.

We've already talked about the gruesome photos that suggest a member of the 51 will experience horrid burns, but there are photos of Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer) that have proven just as revelatory, even if they don't seem it at first glance.

The photos in question show Brett standing behind an ambulance, talking with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) and Violet Mikami (Hanako Greensmith). The tone seems relatively light (and you can see Jake Carver in the background of one of the photos), but the biggest takeaway is that there appears to be a ring on Brett's left hand!

That's right: unless Chicago Fire is going out of its way to mess with fans, than these photos confirm that Brett said yes to the marriage proposal made by Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) in the season 11 finale.

This is a crucial revelation, especially considering the fact that season 12 will feature a time jump that blows past the cliffhangers of season 11 and picks up several weeks (or perhaps even months) later. Showrunner Andrea Newman told TV Line that this decision was made to maximize intrigue:

""Yes, there will be some time jump going into the premiere, and viewers and [the] 51 are in it together. There have been big changes, and the 51 gang is on a rollercoaster ride throughout the episode trying to navigate all of it.""

Part of the rollercoaster, no doubt, will be how Brett and Casey decide to move forward with their relationship. The former still works for the 51, and, barring some drastic changes, Casey still lives in Oregon with the Darden boys.

It's safe to assume that part of Brett's reason for leaving the show (which she has been confirmed to do at some point during season 12) will have to do with Casey, but it will be fascinating to see how the two of them ultimately figure things out.

It will also be interesting to see how the other members of the 51 react, as they will undoubtedly be happy for Brett, while at the same time being sad that she will be leaving the Windy City for good. It's the end of an era, and we're curious to see how it all gets executed in the season premiere.
