Chicago Fire spoilers: What to expect in the Chicago Fire season 12 finale (Preview)
It’s hard to imagine Firehouse 51 without Boden, but we’re getting close to that. The Chicago Fire season 12 finale is all about honoring who the character is in an emotional goodbye.
Yes, Boden is leaving. Eamonn Walker is stepping down as a series regular from the show, although it does sound like things are open for him to recur in the future. Based on the emotional goodbye, it looks like Boden is opting to retire rather than something bad happen to him.
Let’s dive into the promo and synopsis for the Chicago Fire season 12 finale. What exactly can we expect in the episode?
Chicago Fire season 12 finale promo
The promo focuses on the goodbye to Boden. Everyone in the firehouse crowds into his office to tell him goodbye, and there are a few tears. Kidd is right when she says that Boden has made the place a family. From Day 1, Boden has been a father figure to so many of them!
It’s hard to accept that this is Boden’s last episode, though. We haven’t seen him for the last few episodes, and the penultimate episode left us with some concerns that Chief Robinson was coming after him still. Is it possible that she’s succeeding?
Chicago Fire season 12 finale synopsis
The synopsis certainly suggests that Boden’s exit has something to do with Chief Robinson. Boden does something that affects the Deputy Commissioner race. We know that Robinson is after this position, and she may have the votes. Boden and Firehouse 51 will need to do whatever it takes to avoid her getting that position.
Is it possible that Boden puts his name into the hat? If he does and he wins, that would have a huge impact. It would also be a great reason for him to leave, keeping the door open for a guest spot here and there a little like how Casey keeps coming back.
Meanwhile, we’ll see Carver and Damon struggling with a call. There is something impactful about it that leads to their pasts coming up. We’ve all had questions about who Damon is, and it looks like this episode is finally going to bring that up. Is he connected to Carver in some sort of way?
" Boden makes a decision that impacts the race for Deputy Commissioner. A tense call brings up painful memories for Carver and Damon. Mouch struggles to adjust to the new Truck"
This is the season finale, but there is some great news. Chicago Fire will be back for a 13th season, and it will premiere this fall on NBC!
