Chicago Med promo suggest a Gaffney employee will get fired
Chicago Med always delivers in terms of high stress environments. There's always something hectic going on in the ED, whether it be the erratic behavior of a patient or an unexpected development in their symptoms.
Unfortunately, the promo for the upcoming Med episode makes it seem as though the lies not with the patient, but one of the Gaffney Medical Center employees. The promo sees Zola Ahmad (Sophia Ali) eyeing a patient in a highly suspicious way, only to have the voiceover claim that she "jeopardized a man's life."
Dr. Ahmad puts a patient's life at risk
It's unclear what Dr. Ahmad did or didn't to the patient, but the chain reaction of events it sets off can be seen by the panic with which Crockett Marcel (Dominic Raines) and Dean Archer (Steven Weber) react. Archer is particularly unhappy (understandably so), and he takes Marcel to task for not keeping a better eye on Dr. Ahmad:
"You're supposed to be her supervisor... That never should've happened."
Naturally, the promo cuts around whatever "that" is, but the concern on Marcel's face tells us what we need to know. Elsewhere in the video clip, Marcel confronts Dr. Ahmad and criticizes her for putting the life of the patient and the reputation of Gaffney at risk.
Marcel may have to fire Dr. Ahmad
"Your care for the patient is compromised," he states, before a panicked Dr. Ahmad asks the biggest question of all: "Am I gonna get fired?!" It's an effective promo, because the severity of the character's actions really make it seem as though she made a colossal, career-ending mistake.
Dr. Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) has obviously struggled to wrestle back control of Gaffney and ensure that it didn't become a strict, for-profit hospital that relied on technology, but depending on what happens with the aforementioned patient, this incident could be used against both her and the hospital management as a whole.
We hope the patient makes it, we hope Gaffney's reputation isn't damaged, and we hope to find out why Dr. Ahmad appears to be acting so strangely around the patient during treatment. We're just happy that Med is back from hiatus, so we only have to wait a week to get the answers to all these questions.
