Chicago Med star reveals time jump plans for season 10 premiere
Chicago Med left a lot of plot threads dangling during the season 9 finale. There was the fate of one Dr. Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains), who we now know will be leaving the show, and the accusations leveled against Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell).
As a refresher, Ripley was accused of attacking a man with a baseball bat. He denied being the person responsible, but the show didn't provide enough information to the counter to squash the suspicion in our mind. As viewers, we're still getting to know Ripley. Dr. Hannah Asher feels the same way.
Chicago Med season 10 will skip forward a month in time
The actress who plays Asher, Jessy Schram, talked about the shocking turn of events during a recent interview with TV Insider. She not only broke down her character's reaction to the Ripley claims, but she revealed that Chicago Med will skip forward in time when it returns for season 10.
According to Schram, Chicago Med will pick up a month after the events of the season 9 finale. She also promised that there will be lots of answers in the very first episode:
"We will answer a lot of the questions [raised by that cliffhanger]. I think we’ll be coming [back] a month after that happened."
Jessy Schram promises answers to the season 9 cliffhanger
To be clear, the characterization of Ripley is going to take a lot more than a single episode, and part of the promise of season 10 is getting to see how his reputation changes in light of the accusations. For Asher, in particular, it will be tricky to navigate moving forward.
"There will still be more confusion, but we’ll see how it affects them," Schram told the outlet. "How much she’ll get to know from it, how much he’s going to hide, and how that affects the emergency department in general."
"Confusion" was the word Schram used to describe her character's headspace heading into the new season. We'd characterize our headspace, consequently, as "excited."
