Something is a little off about that new SVU detective...

Good help is hard to find on Chicago PD. Danny Alvarez (EJ Bonilla) was brought into the mix for a lone episode, and then was promptly arrested for preying on the very same victims that the IU was trying to protect.

Josephine Petrovic (Bojana Novakovic) was brought in to help profile a serial killer, but the promo for the upcoming episode "On Paper" suggests something might be off...

Petrovic returns for Chicago PD 11x08

Petrovic debuted in the episode "The Living and the Dead", and quickly proved that she was very skilled as a criminal profiler. She's an SVU detective, so her credentials check out, but there's a bit of a disconnect between her and the IU, especially in the way she approaches her investigation.

Both Petrovic and the IU failed to find the serial killer at the end of the episode, and the synopsis for "On Paper" makes it clear that the case is far from over:

"Upton brings SVU detective Petrovic back into the fold to help with the investigation of a tender-age kidnapping."

It appears as though Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is going to be taking the lead on the episode, which makes sense given that Voight demanded most of the spotlight for the last two stories. She will enlist Petrovic to help with a new kidnapping, but the tension between her and the enigmatic Petrovic is going to make things difficult.

Upton suspects Petrovic is hiding something

The promo sees Upton ask Voight about Petrovic's background, and his answers only raise more questions. "She has the highest clearance rate but she doesn't put her name on cases," Voight notes. We then see Upton observing a series of odd behavioral quirks and suspicious actions on Petrovic's part, which culminates with her asking "Is there anything you want to tell me?"

We've seen shady police behavior before, but Petrovic's response to Upton is what seemingly sets her apart from her predecessors. Instead of making a threat, or tipping off her guilt, she simply says:

"You're gonna have to say it. If you want to accuse me of something, accuse me."

Chicago PD likes to ratchet up the dramatic stakes in promos, of course, but everything about Petrovic so far does suggest that she has an ulterior motive to her investigations, or is at least hiding something, and we're excited to see how dark that something is.
