Chicago PD star teases Dante Torres' 'complicated past' in season 11

Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) can't seem to go very long without getting into trouble. The Chicago PD rookie waterboarded a suspect in season 10, and in the latest episode of season 11, he decided to the throw caution to the wind and hook up with an informant.

Not an ideal situation, obviously, but one that's keeping in line with Torres' impulsive nature. The character may be incredibly capable in the field, but he can sometimes let his emotions get the best of him when it comes down to the wire.

Torres' past will affect his current PD arc

This is something that stems from Torres' past, which is something actor Benjamin Levy Aguilar has been excited to dig into during the production of season 11. He talked about the character's trauma during a recent interview with Fangirlish, and confirmed that fans will learn more about it as his story unfolds:

"There’s still so much that haunts him—past traumas and things that he needs to deal with. I would love to see him go through more of that."

Aguilar also discussed the character's desire to do a good during his first undercover assignment, given that he's in the company of some expert undercover officers, i.e. Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins).

There's pressure to prove that he's just as good as they are, but like we said, he's already made some big mistakes.

The character still has 'a lot' to work on

The actor told the outlet that Torres still has a lot to figure out, both about himself and as an officer. Things are going to get messy over the next several episodes of Chicago PD, and Torres is going to be right in the middle of it.

"I also see him realizing how much his past still controls him. He’s realizing more and more that there’s a lot to work on within himself."

One can only hope that Torres is able to learn from his mistakes and past traumas, and sticks it out for the long haul. The IU members have been dropping like flies, lately, so it's important to keep the good ones around!
