Season 10 of Chicago Med introduced a few new faces to the show’s ever-changing cast including actor Darren Barnet, who has joined the show as pediatric resident Dr. John Frost. 

Right out of the gate, fans fell in love with Med’s new addition who made his debut fighting to help get his young patient the care she needed as his hospital prepared to close down. In just one episode, Dr. Frost quickly won over the fans, though we’re not surprised at all given the character is played by actor Darren Barnet, who exudes charisma and brings a likability to every character he plays. 

So it’s no surprise that Chicago Med fans have quickly been won over and are eager to check out Barnet’s past roles! While Chicago Med marks his first series regular role on a broadcast drama, Barnet is no stranger to the industry and has appeared in a handful of hit shows and movies in his career!

Never Have I Ever 

Without a doubt, the show you’re most likely to recognize Darren Barnet from is the Netflix comedy Never Have I Ever, and if you haven’t seen the show yet it should absolutely be at the top of your watch list! The series centered around the life of first-generation Indian-American teen Devi Vishwakumar as she navigated the complicated world that is high school. 

For four seasons, Barnet stared as heartthrob swimmer Paxton Hall-Yoshida in Netflix’s quirky teen comedy series which allowed him to show off his comedic chops. The show is a perfect series for Chicago Med fans looking to enjoy some of Barnet’s past roles and is one of Netflix’s best most underrated comedies!

Anyone But You

Barnet had a fun and memorable role in 2023’s hit romantic comedy Anyone But You, costarring alongside leads Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney. 

The film follows Bea (Sweeney) and Ben (Powell), whose attraction turns ice-cold after a life-changing first date. When the pair find themselves reunited at a wedding, they pretend to be a couple in hopes of getting their friends off their backs and chaos ensues. 

Barnet stars as Bea’s ex Jonathan, who makes a surprise appearance at the wedding in the most hilariously awkward and unexpected way.

Love Hard 

With the holidays just around the corner, Love Hard is a perfect pick for Chicago Med fans! 

LA native Natalie decides to take a chance on love after falling hard for Tag (Barnet) a man she met via an online dating app, but when she arrives on the East Coast to surprise him for the holidays it’s Natalie who is hit with the biggest surprise. It turns out she’s been catfished by Tag’s friend, Josh (Jimmy O. Yang). 

Josh promises to help her hook up with the real Tag if she pretends to be his girlfriend in the process. The end result is a lighthearted comedy perfect for the holiday season!

Untitled Horror Movie

Barnet stars as Max in this 2021 horror comedy about a group of six costars who decide to shoot a film of their own after their TV show is canceled. In the process, they unintentionally summon a spirit with an affinity for violence and things quickly take an unexpected turn for the worse. 

The film is a perfect selection for horror fans and once again shows off Barnet’s amazing comedic timing as he costars alongside an amazing cast that includes Katherine McNamara, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Kal Penn, and Aisha Tyler.

Gran Turismo

This 2023 film is based on the true story of a team of underdogs including a working-class gamer, former race car driver, and motorsport exec, who come together to compete in the most elite sport in the world. 

In the film, Barnet stars as Matty Davis, a top-ranked racer at the GT academy who is not exactly thrilled by this newcomer’s success. This is one that allows fans to see a different side of Barnet as an adversary to the hero of the story, and the film is also a great movie the entire family can enjoy!

Samurai Rabbit: The Usagi Chronicles

In this Netflix animated series, Barnet gets to show off his acting chops in a unique way as the voice of Yuichi Usagi, a teenage rabbit samurai, as he embarks on a quest to become a true samurai.
