Danny Reagan may be known as the resident tough guy on Blue Bloods, but the actor who plays him, Donnie Wahlberg, is more than happy to discuss how much the show means to him. Wahlberg went on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote the final season of Blue Bloods, and he didn't hold back.

Wahlberg not only praised co-star Tom Selleck, who he affectionally referred to as "dad", but he echoed Selleck's sentiments about not wanting the show to end after the fourteenth season. In fact, Wahlberg is down to play Danny Reagan for as long as the network (and the fans) want him to:

"It’s just been the greatest blessing. It’s truly been an amazing run. I just love it. I love it so much."

Walhberg, who was a huge champion of the show early on, and helped to convince Bridget Moynahan to sign on to play Erin Reagan, has continued to be a mascot on social media. He's posted videos on the set of the final season, and teased some of the final dinner table scenes.

Donnie Wahlberg teared up talking about the finale

The actor has spent a decade and a half playing Danny Reagan, and as such, he's developed close bonds with the cast and the crew:

"The crew is phenomenal, the cast is phenomenal. It’s one of the things that helps when I’m away from my wife and kids."

Wahlberg then gets choked up talking about how much Blue Bloods has meant to not only his career, but his life. He acknowledges his emotional break, and chalks it up to how much he's enjoyed being a part of such a long-running show.

"I'm sorry, I get a little emotional."

The actor and New Kids on the Block member admitted that he's still having a hard time accepting the news that Blue Bloods will not be back for another season, and jokingly admits to being in denial about it being the end of the line.

He maintains hope, however, that Blue Bloods will be able to live on in a future reboot or perhaps even a spinoff. Fingers crossed.
