Change is once again coming to FBI this fall. After four seasons playing Special Agent Tiffany Wallace on CBS’s hit crime drama, actress Katherine Renee Kane is exiting the long-running series and she’s now breaking her silence about her looming departure.

Less than 24 hours after reports first surfaced that she would be leaving FBI, Kane has released an official statement to Deadline addressing her exit telling the trade, “It was time to look towards new creative endeavors. I’m excited for the future and wish the show all the best.”

The brief statement definitely seems to indicate her exit might have been the result of creative differences and this wouldn't be the first time a series regular was written off for creative reasons. We’ve witnessed many cast exits within the One Chicago and FBI franchises in which characters were written off their respective shows not because the actors wanted to leave, but because the writers felt it was time for a change in the direction of the show.

The good news is that it has been confirmed Kane will return for at least one episode in season 7 which will serve as her character’s final appearance on the show. It remains unclear how exactly the show will write Tiffany out of the show, but we do know that Lisette Olivera has been tapped to play her replacement.

Olivera will be joining season 7 in the series regular role of Syd, a BAU Agent primed to become Scola’s new partner after Tiffany’s exit.

While nothing has been confirmed, it’s likely that Kane’s exit will come in the season opener this October. What will be interesting is to see whether her character gets a proper send-off or if her exit comes via a quick one-off sequence similar to what fans of Chicago Fire saw earlier this year when Albero Rosende left the series in the season opener via a one-off scene.

Kane is the latest star to exit the FBI franchise, which most recently bid farewell to FBI: International series lead Luke Kleintank with Chicago PD alum Jesse Lee Soffer joining the show this fall as his replacement.

FBI returns Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 8/7c on CBS.
