Fire Country isn't new tonight as CBS pulled the show from the schedule last minute
By Cody Schultz
Heading into this week, we knew that CBS would not be airing new episodes of Fire Country as the show is on yet another break this week as part of CBS’s larger scheduling plan. We did, however, think that we’d at least be able to enjoy spending Friday night with a pair of Fire Country reruns as CBS was slated to air a pair of reruns this week following a new episode of SWAT.
Well, that plan has changed.
CBS will no longer be airing Fire Country encores this Friday night as originally scheduled. Instead, CBS has pulled the two Fire Country reruns from the schedule as part of a last-minute schedule change made after fans complained about the Billy Joel: The 100th - Live at Madison Square Garden special being cut short during its original broadcast last Sunday night.
Fire Country isn’t on tonight because of the Billy Joel special
For those who haven’t been keeping up, on April 14, CBS turned over its primetime spots to broadcast Billy Joel: The 100th - Live at Madison Square Garden. Unfortunately, there was a technical issue and due to CBS’s coverage of the Masters golf tournament going long, the Billy Joel special was cut off prematurely as local programming began airing. While the special is available to stream uninterrupted on Paramount Plus, CBS viewers weren’t happy about the special being cut off.
CBS listened to the fans and announced that they’ll be airing an encore of the special tonight, April 19, beginning at 9/8c instead of airing the originally planned encore episodes of Fire Country.
While CBS has pulled Fire Country from the schedule tonight, there is some good news for fans looking to enjoy a weekly dose of the hit firefighter drama! CBS will now air the two Fire Country encores originally intended to air tonight on Saturday night beginning at 8/7c!
In even better news, Fire Country will return with new episodes next Friday! Season 2 will continue next week with the seventh episode of the season, “A Hail Mary.” The episode finds the future of Three Rock in jeopardy after public opinion of the camp grows increasingly negative.
