It’s been some time since we’ve seen Severide step forward to take charge on a case. That’s coming soon on Chicago Fire, but not quite yet.

There isn’t a new episode of Chicago Fire or any of the One Chicago lineup tonight, Wednesday, March 13. That won’t be that surprising considering the promo for the new episode told us how long this break would be.

There is a rerun on tonight. We’re heading back to the third episode of the season, which is great for the Brett fans out there. Brett and Violet end up chasing after a man and a woman after the woman asks for help in a domestic situation.

When will Chicago Fire return with new episodes on NBC?

NBC made it clear when the three Chicago shows would be back with new episodes. We need to wait until Wednesday, March 20. Yes, that is next week!

This break is likely linked to scheduling of the season. NBC will want the finales to air in May, but there are only 13 episodes to the season due to the summer strike action. With the January premiere date, we knew that would mean some breaks in the schedule here and there.

We do get a look at what to expect when the series returns, and the promo makes it all about Severide. A woman comes to the firehouse about a fire that Firehouse 51 was called out to. She wants the money from the house back otherwise she is a dead woman. Well, it turns out that Severide found that money at the house, and now he is dealing with the local police because of it.

Meanwhile, we’ll get to see Violet meet her new partner. This is going to lead to some issues as Violet gets used to working with someone new. That’s the problem with a change in partnership. Gabby had to deal with it, and then Brett. Now it’s time for Violet to handle it.

Check out the promo and synopsis for Chicago Fire when it returns next week:

"Violet clashes with her new partner; Severide discovers a hidden stash of money on a call and squares off against the cops working the case; Mouch gets a parking ticket."
