Law & Order: SVU will bring back 2 familiar faces in season 25

Law & Order: SVU is still going strong after 25 years. It's the longest-running live action series of all time, and its a testament to the cast and the writers that it can still manage to keep audiences on their toes. One never knows what to expect. Unless, of course, we get a hint.

Mariska Hargitay aka Olivia Benson, recently sat down for an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and revealed that the current season of Law & Order: SVU will be bringing in two mystery guest stars. The actress was tight-lipped about who the guest stars were, but she did confirm that they had both appeared on the show in the past.

SVU season 25 will feature 'mystery guests'

While most working television actors have gotten the chance to appear on an episode of Law & Order: SVU, the clue does actually help narrow down who the guest stars might be. We can rule out David Krumholtz, who's appeared in an earlier season of Law & Order, because his involvement was already confirmed on social media.

Hargitay did, however, let slip that there are plans to bring back Ali Wentworth at some point during season 25. Wentworth is close friends with Hargitay in real life, and she absolutely fits the bill when it comes to notable guest stars, as she appeared in a season 17 episode of SVU ("Melancholy Pursuit").

Wentworth also has an impressive TV resume, having been on shows like Seinfeld, Felicity and Nightcap. She also served as a guest host on Live with Kelly and Ryan between 2015 and 2022.

Both guests have appeared on the show before

Regardless of who the mystery guests turn out to be, it's clear the current season of Law & Order: SVU is interested in looking back, and incorporating elements of the past into its current storyline. This was confirmed during a conversation between Hargitay and Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon.

The actress told Fallon that the focus of season 25 is going to be on Benson's psyche, and her attempts to make peace with everything she's encountered over the years:

"The arc is about healing because obviously my character has been exposed to so much darkness and that goes somewhere. So trying to process it and deal with it."

We're excited to see how these mystery guests play into this arc!
