CBS’s hit NCIS franchise has celebrated many milestones over the years, but the franchise’s latest feat is definitely one for the record books. This April, NCIS will air the 1,000th episode of the NCIS franchise fittingly on the flagship series that started it all.

The special milestone episode promises to be a special event and will feature the returns of a few familiar faces, but it seems the episode will also be welcoming back one character with some help from a new actor taking on the role.

As first confirmed by TVLine, NCIS has tapped Spence Moore II (Superman & Lois, All American) to take over the role of NCIS Director Leon Vance’s son, Jared Vance. That’s right, the role of Jared Vance has been recast for the third time with Moore taking over the role from Akinsola Aribo, who played Jared across seasons 9-11. The role was first originated by Khamani Griffin back in season 6.

Jared’s return is set to tie into the episode’s key storyline which will revolve around NCIS’s longtime director.

The NCIS 1,000th episode event will feature several special guests

In addition to bringing Jared Vance back into the mix with Spence Moore II, it has also been announced that the special 1,000th episode of the NCIS franchise will fittingly include two key members of the franchise!

NCIS: LA star Daniela Ruah is set to reprise her role as Special Agent Kensi Blye-Deeks in the episode, marking her first time back in the franchise since NCIS: LA wrapped its 14-season run last May. We’ll also get to see NCIS: Hawai’i lead Vanessa Lachey popping up in the episode with a special appearance from Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant.

There is also buzz that the episode will feature one more surprise return which TVLine has hinted will be an “extra-special appearance to watch for.”

Could we perhaps see someone from the NCIS: New Orleans family popping by? Might it be a former member of the NCIS cast? Or might CBS throw it all the way back to the show that started it all with a guest appearance from a member of the JAG cast? We’re going to have to wait to see when the 1,000th episode of the NCIS franchise airs on Monday, April 15 at 9/8c on CBS!
