New interview hints Taylor Kinney could be leaving Chicago Fire (yes, again)
By Cody Schultz
Just when we thought Taylor Kinney was here to stay following his temporary leave from Chicago Fire, a new interview is casting doubts on Kinney's future on the show.
As fans will recall, Kinney missed several episodes of Chicago Fire season 11 after taking a personal leave from the show. No details regarding the reason for Kinney's leave were ever provided with the show explaining Severide's exit by having him leave Chicago to assist with an investigation training program.
In a new interview with Parade, Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman hinted that another actor could be leaving the show... or at least the city of Chicago.
While speaking with Parade, Chicago Fire's boss seemed to hint that the third episode of season 12 -- airing this Wednesday night -- would see a major decision being made by one member of the 51 family and that by the episode's conclusion someone from the team would be leaving the Windy City.
“Some major decisions will be made by all three characters—Kidd, Severide and Cruz—in episode 3, and by the end of it, one of them will be heading out of Chicago."
Here's why fans are worried Severide is leaving Chicago Fire again
Although there has been no confirmation that Taylor Kinney is leaving Chicago Fire again, comments from Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman hinting that Kidd, Cruz, or Severide would be leaving Chicago is a major red flag for fans -- one that has caused concern that Kinney is leaving again. And this makes sense.
While Cruz expressed an interest in possibly leaving 51 in the second episode of the season, he did so when expressing the desire to take the lieutenant's exam so that he could lead his own team. This was after frustrations grew over Severide's treatment of him upon his return and while Cruz is looking to take the exam, he hasn't expressed any desire in leaving town.
There have also been no storylines involving Kidd leaving town, which seems to suggest it will be Severide leaving Chicago once again to assist with an arson investigation. Let's just hope this time he doesn't take an extended leave.
