Sean Murray hints towards uncertain NCIS future: "No one is safe"
Few actors are as a big a fan of their show as Sean Murray. The actor has been a huge proponent of NCIS since he joined the show, and unsurprisingly, he remains one of the most beloved presences on NCIS two and decades in. The perks of having a storied history on the show, however, could also be the thing that leads to the character's sudden removal...
Murray discussed his NCIS legacy during a recent interview with People Magazine. The timing of this reflection made perfect sense, as the show crossed the hallowed 1,000 episode mark, but the actor surprised fans when he said that he wasn't sure what was next in store for his character, Timothy McGhee.
Sean Murray says 'no one' is safe on NCIS
"Obviously, being here 21, I have enjoyed, immensely, being a part of this show," he explained. There was no doubt that there was joy and a sense of accomplishment that came with the aforementioned time span, but it was the shift towards future seasons that caught our attention. As far as Murray was concerned, anything could happen:
"I think we learned this with things that have happened on the show over the years... No one is quite safe... You never know what's going to happen."
Ominous though it may have sounded, Murray refused to expand on his comments, and instead asserted that he is having a great time with the current iteration of the cast. He also provided some semblance of comfort by saying that he doesn't forsee any major cast changes in the immediate future. "I don't think anyone is itching to go elsewhere at the moment," he noted.
Murray is unsure about his character's future
NCIS is at a critical point in its history. The franchise is expanding faster than ever, and characters we previously thought we'd never see again are getting their own spinoffs and/or prequel shows. It doesn't make the fear of McGee's departure any less real, but it does suggest there could be life for the character even if he were to leave the main show behind.
What do you think? Would you consider watching a McGee spinoff in the future? Or do you prefer the character stays on NCIS?
