Talk about whiplash. SWAT has been one of the most interesting shows in recent memory when it comes to its release history. The show is entertaining as ever, but it has now been brought back from the brink of cancelation twice! CBS reversed its plan on April 11 and decided to bring the procedural drama back for an eighth season.

It's shocking in some ways, and not shocking in others. Like we stated previously, this sort of thing has happened before to SWAT (and it doesn't happen often). That said, there's a sense of elation in knowing that a network can just reverse its decision at any time and give the green light to a show that thought it was on its last legs.

Shemar Moore posted his celebration on IG

Shemar Moore has been the biggest champion of SWAT over the last few seasons, and for good reason. He's the marquee name, and as Hondo, he drives the bulk of the show's main stories. He anchors the titular team, and so it makes sense that he would take a similarly authoritative role in renewal discussions.

Moore took to Instagram shortly after the news of the SWAT announcement was made official, and he included a video of him celebrating with the cast and crew. It's a genuinely heartwarming sight, and one that can't help but get us excited for what the show has in store for season 8.

Moore gave love back to the fans

The actor also included a heartfelt caption that made sure to give love back to the fans. Without everybody watching the show, SWAT would have never made it past season 6, let alone claw its way to an eighth! Here's what Moore had to say on the matter:

"The dream continues all because of YOU the FANS!!!! We love y’all and wouldn’t be here without your continued love and support!!! Thank you to @cbstv and @sptv for believing in us !! Season 8 here we come!!!"

We're thrilled for SWAT, and are more curious than ever to see if CBS attempts a similar cancelation reversal for Blue Bloods...

Kenny Johnson is sadly leaving SWAT. dark. Next. KJ
