Sorry, there is no new Grey's Anatomy tonight (but here's when the show will return!)

Grey's Anatomy will take its first break of the season this evening, but at least we know when the season will return!

Well, it’s been a good run but after five weeks of uninterrupted new episodes of Grey’s Anatomy, ABC’s longest-running original primetime drama will be taking a break from the schedule. That’s right, there is no new episode coming our way this Thursday evening as ABC presses pause on season 20.

Tonight, ABC is putting its entire Thursday night lineup on break for two-weeks with no new episodes of 911, Grey’s Anatomy, or Station 19 scheduled to air. This seems to be part of ABC’s bigger scheduling plans to draw out the shortened seasons as far into May as possible before the shows sign off the air for the summer.

The good news is that we can still enjoy reruns of all three Thursday night series and we don’t have to wait too long for the shows to return with fresh episodes.

Grey’s Anatomy will return on May 2 with its next new episode!

Though ABC is putting its Thursday night shows on a break, the network is not keeping fans in the dark about when they’ll return! 911, Grey’s Anatomy, and Station 19 will each return with fresh episodes on Thursday, May 2, kicking off what should be weeks of new episodes heading up to their finales at the end of May.

Episode 6 welcomes back Debbie Allen as Catherine Avery and her return spells trouble for both Link and Monica. Why? Well, it turns out that Catherine isn’t exactly happy about their planned course of treatment for a VIP patient brought to the hospital.

Elsewhere in the episode, Mika and Teddy team up to treat a patient brought to Grey Sloan from a nearby penitentiary which presents its own interesting obstacles, while Bailey attempts to shake up the residency program in a new way. Additionally, while not mentioned in the synopsis, the promo teases that Webber’s confidence about treating patients might continue to waver as we see him freeze up as Lucas calls out for his help as a patient crashes!

Needless to say, there should be plenty of drama awaiting us when Grey’s Anatomy season 20 resumes on May 2!
