Station 19 showrunners would "100%" want to bring the show back

There may still be hope for the firefighting drama.

Station 19, like so many long-running network shows, is nearing the end of its run. ABC has stated that the firefighting drama ended with its latest season despite solid ratings. There's been a general sadness surrounding the seemingly premature ending, but the showrunners (could we fit any more 's' words into that sentence?) are not giving up hope.

Peter Paige and Zoanne Clack, the joint showrunners of Station 19, recently sat down for an interview with TV Line. They discussed the show's cancelation, all the while assuring viewers that they would be more than willing to return if ABC reversed its decision.

"I thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with Zoanne,” Paige told the outlet. “I’m really proud of what we accomplished creatively, and I’m really proud of what we did with the show culturally." He also made it clear that he would be "100%" on board with planning out another season.

Clack was similarly unflinching in voicing her desire to return. "Bring it on," she added. That being said, the showrunners did get more reflective later in the piece, admitting that they are going to miss the show in the event that ABC sticks with its cancelation plan:

"We had a very powerful, amazing culture [on the set], and it was just a joy to work with these actors and writers and crew. We’re going to miss it terribly."

SWAT proved that cancelations could be reversed

The possibility of bringing a show back after issuing a cancelation is not out of the question. SWAT proved that such a thing could be possible after CBS canceled it, renewed it, then canceled it and renewed it a second time!

Blue Bloods, another long-running CBS procedural, has been given the cancelation notice, but stars Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg have continued to push for its renewal by appealing to fans. In a previous era, a cancelation meant a cancelation without any wiggle room.

While a renewal is on the table, the chances of Station 19 and Blue Bloods getting another season are slim. Especially since the latter just aired its series finale.
