Taylor Kinney makes rare IG appearance from Chicago Fire set
Taylor Kinney has become a difficult man to get ahold of. The actor is still part of Chicago Fire, but he has reduced his screen time drastically over the last two seasons, and has taken more of a secondary role within the show as opposed to being the de facto lead.
The good news is that Kinney is set to play a massive part in the final stretch of season 12. He will be leading storylines in two of the last three episodes, and Chicago Fire showrunner Andrea Newman confirmed that episode 1211 will be pivotal with regards to Severide's marriage to Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo).
Taylor Kinney is all smiles behind the scenes
It's all very exciting stuff, which is why we were so thrilled to see Taylor Kinney pop back up on social media. The actor appeared on the Instagram account of Anthony Lullo, a longtime gaffer on the show, with the caption: "Sleepy n happy." Sure enough, these are two feelings Kinney is radiating in the pic. He's decked out in his Firehouse 51 attire, while co-star Joe Minoso (aka Cruz) appears to be taking a nap in the background. Check it out here.
It's been a long time since Kinney mentioned Chicago Fire on social media. The actor would post about rehearsing lines or goofy antics on the set in years prior, but he hasn't uploaded anything on his personal Instagram since December 9, 2022.
Kinney will spearhead the rest of S12
Kinney has made fleeting appearances on the IG of his girlfriend, Ashley Cruger, but is rarely seen talking or suited up in his Chicago Fire attire. The same goes for interviews. The actor still has yet to address why he took a leave of absence from the show last year.
While fans do not need to know the ins and outs of an actor's life, the prolonged silence does have some of us wondering if another leave is coming, or if Kinney will eventually leave the show. These are concerns for another time, however. Kinney will be front-and-center for the rest of season 12, and based on his expression in Lullo's photo, he's looking forward to it as much as we are.
