Taylor Kinney is married! Chicago Fire star confirms he tied the knot

It was a big deal when Kelly Severide tied the knot in Chicago Fire season 10, and now the actor who plays him, Taylor Kinney, has done the same. People Magazine confirmed that Kinney married Ashley Cruger, his girlfriend of two years, in a private ceremony on April 30. The ceremony took place in the Windy City, where Kinney has just wrapped production on the latest season of Chicago Fire.

Kinney has been less involved with the show over the last two years, missing several episodes. He took a leave of absence, citing personal matters, but fans have yet to learn what said matters were. It now seems as though the actor was planning his wedding alongside Cruger! The two were frequently seen together on Cruger's Instagram during Kinney's hiatus.

This is the first time Kinney has been married, though he was previously engaged to pop star Lady Gaga. They dated for several years before calling it quits in 2016. Kinney has made a point of keeping his romance with Cruger out of the public eye, and has never discussed her during interviews.

He has, however, talked about his desire to start a family. Kelly Severide might be reluctant to have kids with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) on Chicago Fire, but Kinney cannot wait to have a big family of his own.

"I do want to give Mom grandchildren, of course," he told Live Journal in 2012. "I think I’d be a good dad, it would be a pleasure. I’d love it — and I’m in my 30s now. My mum wants me to get married, and have children of course." In the broader sense, Kinney also talked about wanting to live a quiet life out of the Hollywood spotlight.

In a separate interview with Huffington Post, Kinney noted that he would like to have lots of kids. He cited his growing up with lots of siblings as the main reason. "I have a bunch of brothers," he noted. "I grew up with a big family. I want that, sure. "I want a brood, you know." The actor went as far as to say that he wanted a soccer team worth of Kinneys:

"I'd like to have a little soccer team and a minivan and all that stuff."

Sounds like he's well on his way! Congratulations to both him and Cruger.
