“Fall” TV is almost here. All the shows have been pushed to the midseason, but we’re still viewing them as fall TV shows. That’s especially the case for The Good Doctor, which is heading back to our screens for its seventh season.

There are some big changes coming. The show will see some cast exits, but it will also gain a new series regular. Actually, it’s a returning series regular.

Yes, Dr. Jared Kalu will be back walking the halls of St. Bonaventure Hospital. It looks like we’ll get to see plenty of him working under Dr. Shaun Murphy, which is certainly going to be interesting.

The Good Doctor season 7 ups Chuku Modo to series regular

Jared was one of the OG interns with Shaun and Dr. Claire Browne. The three worked under Dr. Neil Melendez, and things were going pretty well for all three of them in their careers. That was until Jared assaulted a doctor. Now, many of us would say the doctor deserved it for what he did to Claire, but it cost Jared his residency.

Instead, Jared had to pick up a residency elsewhere. In season 6, we learned that he went to Denver, only to end up leaving to become a concierge doctor, a move he would later regret.

So, it wasn’t too surprising to hear that he wanted to start up his residency again. He would have to do it under Shaun. Many fans wondered if he would manage it, and it looks like he is sticking around. Modu will return as Dr. Jared Kali in The Good Doctor season 7, and he will be a series regular. He’s around for the whole season.

This offers some great storylines. It wasn’t easy at first for him to take on a role beneath the man he’d started his residency with. However, he knows that he’s made mistakes in his career, and he is taking ownership of them. This offers a lot of hope that we’ll see him grow more as a person as well as a doctor at the same time that Shaun is as a father.
