This wild Chicago Fire season 12 stunt went viral on social media
Chicago Fire has developed a reputation for mounting impressive stunts involving fires and daring rescues. It's part of what made the show so appealing at the onset, and the stunt team, coupled with the efforts of the main cast, have maintained a high bar after a decade plus.
If anything, the stunts have gotten more ambitious and exciting with time. An upcoming stunt may very well be the boldest thing the Chicago Fire production team has attempted thus far. While the stunt won't appear until the May 1st episode, a scene involving a car smashed into the side of Chicago's West Loop building has caught the attention of fans nationwide.
A Chicago worker caught the stunt on video
It's easy to see why; seeing a car burrowed into the second floor of a building is a striking visual, and one that invites lots of questions about what happened and how the driver even managed to pull off the wild accident in the first place. Of course, the stunt may have gone unnoticed were it not for the efforts of TikTok user Madison Ranta.
Ranta, 24, works at the Guinness Open Gate Brewery near the West Loop building, and she had a front row seat to the entire Chicago Fire shoot. She posted a video to her account that features a firefighter balanced atop the car and jumping off of it right before it falls out of the building.
The dangerous stunt will air during season 12
The video caught fire on the platform, garnering over 9 million views and 700K likes. There was some controversy surrounding the video at first, as some users debated whether or not the accident was real (and thus, whether it was ethical to post footage), but it was confirmed that the whole scene was fabricated for the sake of Chicago Fire.
