Violet is suspicious of Chicago Fire rookie Damon (and so are we)

There's just something off about 51's newest firefighter.

Jack Damon (Michael Bradway) is eager to please. He makes it known from the moment he gets introduced in the Chicago Fire episode "The Wrong Guy." He not only comes across as overeager, but he seems to be really invested in Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) in particular.

Severide used to be the hotshot around Firehouse 51, but we've come all the way around to him being the source of another firefighter's fandom. That's it, really. Damon comes across as a 51 fanboy, which is something fans can relate to in some sense (obviously), but has rarely been depicted in the actual show.

Jack Damon acted suspicious in his Fire debut

Idolizing someone like Severide isn't inherently a bad thing, but there's something ominous about Damon and the general vibe he brings to the firehouse. It's unclear what he's getting at, or what he ultimately wants, but it might be in the best interest of the viewer (and the rest of 51) to keep a close watch on him.

At one point in "The Wrong Guy," he can be heard saying this over the phone:

"That isn't the only reason why I'm here... No, no, nobody here knows. And I'll keep it that way for as long as I want."

??! Yeah, suspicious is putting it mildly. Violet agrees. Hanako Greensmith, who plays the recently promoted Violet, had some thoughts on the Chicago Fire rookie. She asserted that Damon's schtick will not work in the long run if he is, in fact, up to no good.

"We have to have someone pass a series of tests until they can really be absorbed by the family," the actress told NBC. "So there may be a couple of red flags that come with this suspicious newcomer, and I think you'll have to stick with us for the rest of the season to see what they may be."

The good news is that the rest of 51 seems to be aware of Damon's overeager presence. They should also have their antennas out given that the last couple hires have been, shall we say, disasters. Emma Jacobs (Caitlin Carver) and Jared Lennox (Wesam Keesh) were about as nefarious as new hires can be, so hopefully Damon's suspicious activity gets explained away and he sticks around.

Unless he is up to no good, in which case we hope Violet and the gang nail him.

JD. Could Jack Damon actually be Severide's son?. dark. Next
