We asked AI what the best firefighter show is and were shocked it didn't choose Chicago Fire

There are some amazing firefighter and first responder shows on broadcast at the moment and if we’re being honest, we’re definitely biased as to what the best firefighter show currently is. After all, our site is called One Chicago Center. But it’s a more than earned bias. 

Chicago Fire reignited the firefighter genre on broadcast and has helped to usher in the recent wave of amazing firefighter shows we now have the chance to enjoy across the likes of ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC.

One could argue that without Chicago Fire, we might not ever have even gotten the likes of 911, 911: Lone Star, Station 19, or Fire Country, after all, it was Chicago Fire that proved there was an audience for firefighter dramas on broadcast. Its success inspired NBC’s competitors to expand beyond police and medical dramas and has led to the creation of some of our favorite shows. 

Despite being the oldest of the group, Chicago Fire has shown no signs of slowing down and remains a favorite for millions of viewers who tune in weekly. It’s by far our favorite of the firefighter shows which is perhaps why we were so shocked when we decided to ask AI that very question and it opted for another series. 

According to AI, Fire Country is the best firefighter show on air right now

Our prompt was simple. We asked ChatGPT’s AI model to tell us what is the best firefighter show currently on air and provide us with a few reasons why. We fully expected it would say Chicago Fire is the best of the shows on air, but it instead gave that title to CBS’s Fire Country.

According to ChatGPT, there are three particular reasons it selected Fire Country as the best firefighter series:

Character Depth: The show delves into the complex lives of its characters, particularly Bode Donovan, whose troubled past and quest for redemption add significant emotional weight.

ChatGPT definitely makes some valid arguments and we’re big fans of Fire Country here as well, as the show is indeed an amazing series with a unique plot, a focus on character development, and lots of high-stakes action. The show is very different from the other firefighter dramas on air thanks to its unique plot prison-release firefighting program and the family dynamics that are intertwined with the plot. 

Fire Country is more than deserving of the love ChatGPT showed it, but at the end of the day, it feels wrong not to give Chicago Fire its flowers as the true reigning MVP of firefighter shows.
