What’s next for Sam Carver in Chicago Fire season 13: Should we be worried?

There were hints that Sam Carver would leave Firehouse 51 in season 12. Is that happening?

Sam Carver’s time with Firehouse 51 looked to be getting cut short in Chicago Fire season 12. He failed to hold back his anger, leading to him being put on furlough in the season 12 finale. Is that the last we’ve seen of the new member of the team, or will he return in Chicago Fire season 13?

There is some good news. It looks like Carver is sticking around. A recent Instagram post from Jake Lockett, who plays the character on the series, hinted that he would be back. He was spotted playing golf with Joe Minoso, and he used the present tense when it came to talking about how they play characters on rival apparatus on the series. Minoso plays Cruz, who is part of Squad 3, while Carver is part of Truck 81.

Why wasn’t Carver in the Chicago Fire season 12 finale?

Kidd made it clear that Carver was on furlough during the season 12 finale. This could have been the show’s way of just reducing screentime for each of the actors, which is a way for the shows to save money in production. It’s unlikely that it was linked to Lockett’s schedule.

There is no way that the series would just write a character out like that, right? Well, we have seen characters in the One Chicago franchise written out and forgotten about, but we can’t see that happening with Carver’s character.

A lot went down in the episode before that. Carver and Damon got into a brawl with civilians while on a call. Carver, who has a history of abuse, noted that seeing how the father and brother were abusing the boy who was burned got the better of him and he lashed out.

There is a lot of room for growth for Carver in season 13. The first is with the way he keeps his past so secretive. This is something he’s done from the start, and it’s time that he starts to open up. Firehouse 51 is a family, and that means having someone to lean on when the past starts to affect everyday work.

He has a great dynamic with many members of Firehouse 51. He gels with the men and women of different ages, and he’s proven to be an excellent ally for Kidd. It’s not like there aren’t people who could give him the chance to unburden himself from the past. Naturally, something like that is going to take time, and maybe Chicago Fire season 13 is the time for that to happen.

Then there’s the relationship with Violet. Season 12 ended with the two in a fight. While it seemed like the two were happy to keep things casual, Carver made it clear that he wanted more. He respected Violet’s wishes, but he would love to be with her on a more serious basis.

Chicago Fire needs a fresh romance, and the two of them offer great potential. We’re sure to see more of their romance throughout season 13. Violet is allowed to move on from Hawkins, and Carver makes a great guy. He stands up for Violet when she needs it, but also allows her to fight her own fights when the time is right.
