Fire Country has continued its red hot ascent up the ratings on CBS, and now, its eyes are set on a spinoff. Sheriff Country, which is set to follow characters introduced in the main series, is set to air during the 2025-26 season. We've already met Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin), but Sheriff Country recently added faces that will be brand new to the franchise.

Christopher Gorham has been cast as Travis, the ex-husband of Mickey Fox. The two share a child together, a daughter named Skye, and remain forces in each others lives, which can sometimes lead to complicated feelings. Travis and Mickey are split up, but it doesn't mean the possibility of romance is completely off the table.

Gorham is a familiar and beloved face for those who have watched network television over the last two decades. He's perhaps best known for his role as Henry Grubstick in ABC's Ugly Betty (2006-10), but he also turned in memorable performances in 2 Broke Girls (2017), Insatiable (2018-19), and The Lincoln Lawyer (2022). Gorham also has memorable guest appearances in Matlock, Hot In Cleveland and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

Gorham will be joined by fellow Sheriff Country newcomer Michele Weaver, who will be playing deputy Cassidy. The character grew up idolizing Mickey Fox, and is attempting to carve out her own niche in law enforcement while continuing to place Mickey on a "pedestal." Weaver is yet another familiar small screen face thanks to her role on the OWN romantic series Love Is in 2018.

Weaver has also made notable one-off appearances in popular shows like Ahsoka and The Pitt, in addition to her supporting role in the reality series satire Real Husbands of Hollywood. Gorham and Weaver join previously confirmed Sheriff Country stars Baccarin and W. Earl Brown.

Max Thieriot, the star of Fire Country, will also serve as a producer on Sheriff Country, and he told Us Weekly that he is committed to expanding the franchise in ways that maintain the quality of the story. 'The most important thing is that we’re always nurturing Fire Country and now Sheriff Country and making sure that they are getting all the attention that they should be getting so that the audience gets what they deserve," he explained.

Thieriot also noted that he doesn't want to stretch the limits of the franchise too far, and will never sacrifice quality for quantity when it comes to introducing new characters and shows. “I know there’s a limit to the amount of Country [shows] we can have," he added. "I think there’s also a certain point where it’s, like, quality over quantity... That to me is the most important thing."

We can't wait to see what both CBS shows have in store.
