It's been nearly 10 years since the last time Chicago PD fans saw Detective Erin Lindsay on screen, but before the end of the year, we're going to hear some new, previously unheard stories about the character and the star who played her. Sophia Bush announced that she will be publishing her first book, a memoir that will explore the actress' life, including her time on the NBC drama.
Bush's book And I Will Tell You Mine: Notes from a Life in Progress will be released on Oct. 27, 2026 and promises to explore all of the topics that she has spoken about openly during her time in the spotlight. From her high-profile relationships and divorces to her career-defining role as Brooke Davis in the teen drama One Tree Hill and, of course, her brief stint in the One Chicago universe.
As fans know, Bush left Chicago PD in 2017 as her character Erin Lindsay after starring for the first four seasons, and as fans also know, the star has detailed her reasons behind leaving. She has opened up about experiencing abusive behavior and a toxic workplace on the set of the show. While she has spoken about her experience in podcasts and interviews, her memoir will be the first time Bush will put her story down on paper for fans to read along with her.

The synopsis for And I Will Tell You Mine lists Chicago PD as one of Bush's main credits, and later teases that chapter of her life as one of the many subjects that will be addressed within the book. She refers to the procedural as a "dream job" that turned into something of a double life where she became a "women in need of protecting" although she played a "protector" onscreen.
Read the official synopsis for the memoir as shared by the publisher:
"With unflinching honesty, she opens up about her bohemian childhood in Los Angeles and the unexpected road from journalism student to actor; the life-changing decade of One Tree Hill, where she navigated relationships on- and off-screen and fought for her character’s integrity; the realities of marriage and divorce in the spotlight; and her years in Chicago, where a dream job forced her into two lives—a badge-wearing protector in one, and a woman in need of protecting in the other."
Until the book hits stands in October, it's unclear how in depth Bush will go into her time on the show, but we shouldn't expect this to be a headline-grabbing tell-all that will name names. Bush appears to be writing from a place of coming into an understanding of herself and reflecting on her experiences. There's no doubt Chicago PD fans will be interested to read what she writes and whether she reveals new details about her departure from the series.
Some fans have remained hopeful that Bush could reprise her role as Erin Lindsay in a future season, though that doesn't appear to be happening anytime soon. Bush currently has a recurring role on Grey's Anatomy and will next appear in the Hulu limited series Count My Lies. In addition to her acting and podcasting work, she's also an activist, entrepreneur, and investor.
Having starred in popular television series for 25 years and counting, Bush has a unique perspective and stories worth sharing with her fans. And that even goes beyond the curiosity into her personal life, her friendships and relationships with costars, and how her voice has been used for internet gossip for most of her career. Without question, this should be one of the most highly anticipated celebrity memoirs, and not only for Chicago PD fans.
