There are many reasons why Chicago Med has had a very loyal fan following since the show premiered in 2015. For example, many of the show's viewers love the personal storylines, while others enjoy the medical mysteries. Perhaps the biggest factor in the medical drama's success has been the fact that Chicago Med has long been able to attract a slew of highly talented actors.
Thanks to the fact that Chicago Med features fantastic actors, some of them have also starred in other notable projects. In 2025, Jessy Schram starred in a major 2025 Hallmark Christmas movie, the latest example of the films that she headlined for that company's much-loved channel. Similarly, Oliver Platt has been able to star in Chicago Med and The Bear simultaneously for a fascinating reason. Now, the fans of The Bear are hoping that another one of the people who stars in the medical drama will join that show's cast.
The Bear fans want Steven Weber to portray Carmy Berzatto's never-before-seen father
Since The Bear began airing, fans of the much-acclaimed show have been introduced to a seemingly endless number of members of the fictional Berzatto family. While some of the members of the family may not be blood-related, they are all compelling onscreen. Some members of the family are portrayed by the show's stars Jeremy Allen White, Abby Elliott, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the latter of whom isn't blood-related but clearly still counts. The show has also featured several guest stars portraying other relatives.
To date, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Paulson, Chris Witaske, Oliver Platt, Bob Odenkirk, Gillian Jacobs, and John Mulaney have all guest-starred on The Bear as part of the Berzatto family. Fans of The Bear have called for one of Chicago Med's current stars to be the latest addition to the restaurant drama show's list of cast members who portray the Berzattos.
A fan of the show posted on the r/TheBear subreddit asking everyone else who they would want to see portray Carmy's dad. The original poster argued that Chicago Med's Steven Weber would be perfect in the role. That fan suggested three reasons why Weber would be perfectly cast, he looks like Jeremy Allen White, he is great at playing antagonistic characters, and The Bear and Chicago Med are filmed near each other.
The post received many upvotes, some of which almost certainly were from people who liked Weber's theoretical casting. On top of that, one of the comments on the post praised the idea. 'Oh, Steven Weber is GREAT call!!"
We would certainly love to see Weber take on a guest role in The Bear, and it seems the fans are in agreement about it as well.
