After the most recent season was fantastic, viewers who regularly watch Chicago Med have a lot to be excited about. Now that season 11 has begun, fans have even more reasons to be thankful, including the fact that Dr. Will Halstead will be part of the coming episodes and could be part of a great storyline.
Even though Chicago Med is on a roll, the show has hit some stumbling blocks, including the fact that the series really needs to fully explain the absence of a beloved character. On the bright side, the medical drama has a secret weapon that could make the series even better.
While the show does a great job focusing on many compelling storylines, one of Chicago Med's characters is so underrated that the series hasn't taken full advantage of how entertaining they are.

Dr. Sam Abrams is Chicago Med's most underrated character
As a huge fan of Chicago Med, there are many of the show's characters that I have loved. For example, I adore characters like Dr. Daniel Charles, Sharon Goodwin, Maggie Lockwood, Dr. Crockett Marcel, and Dr. Connor Rhodes, among others. Fortunately for me and other viewers who feel the same way, all of those characters have been huge parts of the show and spotlighted for long periods of time.
On the other hand, one of my favorite Chicago Med characters, Dr. Sam Abrams, has never been focused on the show in the same way. That is staggering to me since I think that Dr. Abrams is a near-perfect character who is compelling whenever he appears onscreen for many reasons.
Of course, Dr, Abrams' most obvious appeal is how funny the character can often be due to how blunt and egotistical the character is. However, it is important to note that Dr. Abrams has more depth than that, as evidenced by the glimpses viewers have gotten of how invested he is in his patients. It should also be noted that since Dr. Abrams has consistently been depicted as an incredibly skilled surgeon, the character brings a level of authority to every medical conversation he is part of.
Despite all the ways that Dr. Abrams is a fantastic character, he only pops up on the show intermittently. Even though the character has been around since the first season, the actor who portrays Dr. Abrams, Brennan Brown, is only credited with appearing in 50 Chicago Med episodes. On the other hand, some of the show's other actors are credited with appearing in more than four times as many episodes. That shows you that Dr. Abrams has never been utilized to the same level as some of the show's other characters have.
In my opinion, that needs to change, and Brennan Brown should join the show's main cast.
