Chicago PD has been putting Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) through the absolute ringer lately. The character has had to contend with his father's Alzheimer's diagnosis, as well as a harrowing case involving a kidnapped girl he has a fatherly connection with.
It's no wonder Ruzek has been on edge. Unfortunately, PD's decision to focus on Ruzek's increasingly tense situation has come at the expense of the happy stuff around the corner. Namely, Ruzek getting married to Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati). The show has been oddly non-referential when it comes to the wedding, despite it being set up as the season 12 finale.
Marina Squerciati revealed wedding dress options
Thankfully, Marina Squerciati has picked up the slack. The actress may not be getting the chance to promote the wedding onscreen, but she has taken to social media to drum up excitement from all the fans. Squerciati took to Instagram on Wednesday, February 26 to reveal some of the dresses she has considered for the Burzek wedding.
The actress posted four different dresses and urged the fans to weigh in on which one they like best in the comments. Can you all help me choose? I'm genuinely torn," she said. "I'd like to know what you like." Squerciati also expressed her excitement to film the Burzek wedding, echoing much of the hype that fans have been sitting with all season.
"I'm stupidly excited for this wedding," she said, before giving a shoutout to her co-star. "YES, I KNOW IT'S FOR TV, BUT PADDY DO NOT LOOK AT THIS POST!" Burzek has been very since the crossover, so it makes sense that they haven't had time to reflect on their big day.
Burzek's wedding will get more attention in season 12
Chicago PD showrunner Gwen Sigan claimed that this would change as we inch closer to the finale. She told TV Insider that there will be more of a focus put on the couple, and everything they had to deal with before they get to the ceremony. In a good way, not a bad one.
"They have so much going on in their lives," Sigan acknowledged. "But I think there's this conscious effort to also, as we'll see, articulated in an episode to sort of enjoy this time of their life of being engaged and planning the wedding. And it's something we don't really get to see so much on the show because we're usually at work, but to get to remember that they're planning this wedding and trying to juggle it all and do that while they're also parenting Mac and working these very high-stress jobs."
