This one Chicago Fire character is almost certain to miss the 2026 One Chicago crossover

On March 4 the One Chicago shows will come together, but there is one member of Chicago Fire we're not expecting to see in the episode.

Chicago Fire fans might want to brace themselves as it looks like history is about to repeat itself.

As fans will recall, when the “In the Trenches” One Chicago crossover rolled around last season, there was one key member of the Chicago Fire team who missed out on the action: Joe Cruz. In the episode ahead of the crossover, Cruz was suspended for withholding key information from Chief Pascal in connection to a fire that killed a former gang member with connections to Cruz’s brother. Cruz then missed the crossover episode as he was still under suspension, which robbed fans of the chance to see Joe Minoso in the 2025 One Chicago crossover.

Now, it seems another character is about to suffer a similar fate.

In Chicago Fire season 14, episode 12, “Coming in Hot,” Tony was injured on the job after a beam collapsed due to faulty construction tactics. The good news was that Tony was not severely injured, and the doctors at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center expect him to make a full recovery with a few weeks of rest. As for the bad news? Well, it appears that Tony is likely not going to appear in the One Chicago crossover.

While the One Chicago crossover will air a month after episode 12, we’re not anticipating that there will be a time jump between episodes. This means the crossover will likely take place shortly after the events of the episode and that Tony will be out of commission, recovering from his injury when the crossover rolls around. After all, the show made it clear on a number of occasions throughout the episode that Tony would need a few weeks to recover from his injury.

It’ll definitely be disappointing not to see Tony appear in the episode, but there is at least some good news for fans. Although we’re expecting that Tony will not appear in the 2026 One Chicago crossover, the promo for the event did reveal that Severide will be back for the crossover.

Severide did not appear in episode 12, and we learned that he was out of town visiting Isaiah in Cleveland. Kidd did not offer up any info on how long his visit was intended to last, but it seems it was a short trip, and he’ll be back in action in Chicago for the crossover event. Given he was one of a handful of characters from Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD that appeared in the promo, we fully expect that Severide will play a big role in the crossover.

As for Tony, well, we're hoping that he won't be sidelined for too long and that we'll see him sometime shortly after the crossover episode airs!
